Story of a Lower East Side Wall

Swoon (wiki bio) is a mainstay of New York’s street art scene and she represents the manneristic strain that collides fine art with graffiti.

Not completely original in her use of street drawing (I have to admit I’m reminded of WK) or not exactly the most powerful presence on the streetscape (check out Revs or Faile), it is her technical finesse that gives her work a great deal of magnetism.

Here is a YouTube video about one Lower East Side wall that she has nursed from 2003 until today. Few artists can claim the same sophisticated level of aesthetic dialogue with one very public spot in New York. You can also watch her talk about her work at MoMA here.
