img_0594.jpgIn typical New York style, for the last four years the locals have been messing img_0595.jpgwith the ubiquitous WET PAINT signs posted by MTA around the subway stations (here‘s an early one).

Like the sneakers that hang on wires across the city (and the world), this folksy variant of Street Art (one of my favorite topics) are subversively adding their two cents to the silliness of our sign-obsessed culture.

One surfaced at the Bedford Avenue stop with another play on the message, WE AINT, one at Nassau Avenue made a much cruder variation TWAT PAIN, there’s one that preferred a greatly edited version, PAIN, and another which combined two signs to create the more precise, AINT WET PAINT.
