Istanbul Exhibits Neighborly Artistic Dialogue

moshiri04.jpgThere is an exciting (at least in concept, since I haven’t seen it in person) exhibit in Istanbul’s Feshane Cultural Center until March 31 that grew out of a book project entitled, Neighbours In Dialogue (Istanbul: Norgunk, 2005). The book features essays by curators and art critics, along with art works, that seek to document the current state of art and cultural affairs in 9 related countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Georgia, Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, Turkey, and Bosnia Herzegovina.

The exhibition will be toured to the participating countries over the next 5 years.

The 10 works produced exclusively for this exhibition will ultimately be donated to the Ars Aevi/Contemporary Art Museum in Sarajevo.

Here’s a good article from the Turkish Daily News about the “Neighbours” project.
